FAQ
What IS Girl Boner? Girl Boner® is a term I decided to trademark after years of contemplating it and all it stands for: the recognition and embracement of female sexual pleasure. More than a name for female sexual arousal, for which a universal term has not before existed, Girl Boner® is the title of this blog, my activism, my podcast and an overall movement-in-the-making!
Why you, August? As a woman and health and sexuality writer who feels compelled to speak up when necessary, Girl Boner® has been one of the most natural-seeming pursuits of my life. I was working as a model based in Paris when I was diagnosed with advance-stage anorexia. During my recovery, I realized that a lack of sexual empowerment underlaid my longstanding body image issues; gaining sexual empowerment allowed me to heal. I’ve since learned that these issues are hugely prevalent among women—who seem to be willing to explore them, when someone starts the conversation. I’m thrilled to be that person.
I have a sex question. Can you help? I’ll sure try! I welcome readers’ stories and questions and often formulate posts and radio segments based on their remarks. Feel free to post your question in the comments section, using the feedback form below or through social media. I welcome all respectful thoughts, and am committed to protecting your privacy.
How can I get involved? You’re already playing an important role by being here. Reading, commenting and sharing Girl Boner posts all enhance the community. Listening, subscribing to and reviewing my radio show also help! For more fun, join us on the Girl Boner Facebook Page and Twitter, by following me (@AugstMcLaughlin) or using the hashtag #GirlBoner. I’d love to hear from you!

/ June 8, 2014August,
Came across your blog earlier and have been reviewing some of the topics and important information you have written about, among the many, but equally true words you have offered for any woman fortunate to see this.
Though I’m a man, I find this to be a refreshing, respectful, unique and basically awesome way to shed light on female empowerment and sexuality. I’m a single, healthy, straight guy and I’ve always loved women in more ways than what I consider typical of most men.
As I’ve grown and become more mature, I’ve found that when you pay close attention to women and their nature, almost everything patterns out and leads in one way or another to a very passionate, intimate, sensitive, humorous, strong and when the time calls for it – erotic – soul and overall personality. I find it to be amazing, and to enmesh such characteristics to the ever so sensual and lovely curves, legs, hair, wrists, necks, voices, hands, breasts, eyes, lips and that beautiful area between the legs that I consider heaven on earth will forever keep me captivated and IN LOVE. A healthy and confident woman is a comfortable woman and a comfortable woman is sexy in so many ways.
Your blog has enlightened me in a way, and I haven’t even checked everything out, but it’s clear that you are on to something good and healthy and the fact that you are sharing this with women of all kinds is great! I always have felt that women can be their own worst enemy (as we all can, but to stick to the subject at hand) when it comes to fully enjoying themselves, their partners and their god given intense sexualities. Your words will hopefully continue to help women liberate themselves and un-learn some of this bullish*t that tends to get slung their way from very young ages… you can’t cage anything wild or beautiful. It goes against nature and a woman’s nature is… well, to dynamic for any more words!.
